The JCC of the East Bay Afterschool Programs, Center Stage and Olam Yeladim, provide a welcoming, safe environment where each child can have fun and make friends as they develop a sense of independence and experience community. The Center Stage Program is located in our spacious, historic Berkeley facility, and Olam Yeladim is located at our facility in Oakland near Joaquin Miller Park. Both offer a diverse array of organized activities, as well as opportunities for kids to relax and spend time with friends after school.
We provide age-specific programming and all-age, inclusive, communal programming and events. Our caring, enthusiastic staff is there to serve your child's needs, from helping with homework, to reading a story, working in the garden, or playing a boisterous game of soccer in our outdoor play yard. In addition to our core activities, group programming, celebrations, and structured and unstructured play, there are a wide array of enrichment classes such as music, art, cooking, drama, and martial arts.
Elements of Jewish traditions and culture are incorporated into the Afterschool Program in a variety of ways. For example, on Friday afternoons we welcome Shabbat with our age-appropriate Kabbalat Shabbat Program. In addition, we recognize other Jewish holidays and cultural events.
Our programs are fully licensed through the California Community Care Licensing Agency and are favorite after school destinations for elementary and middle school age children in the Berkeley, Albany, West Contra Costa, and Oakland school districts.
Center Stage in Berkeley - 1414 Walnut Street
Center Stage serves children grades K-8, including our middle-school program provided in association with BBYO which serves children grades 6-8 (starting for the 2009/2010 school year).
Transportation to Center Stage includes Berkeley Unified School District buses, and our van service. Our vans and drivers are Youth Bus certified through the CHP, and all passengers are required to wear seat belts.
Hours for Center Stage are 11:30am-6:00pm, Monday through Friday. Full days are offered on most Berkeley Unified and other local school district holidays and vacations.

Children attending Center Stage have the opportunity to participate in a number of terrific entrichment programs. These include:
Lango (Spanish class), Drummm (Drumming class), Athletic Playground (Offsite gymnastics/acrobatics class), Krav Maga (Israeli self-defense), Capoeira (Brazilian martial art), Creative Movement, Cooking classes, Dance and theater classes, Nature and science classes, Art classes, and Gardening.

Olam Yeladim in Oakland - 4500 Redwood Road
Oyam Yeladim serves children grades K-6.

"School's Out!" Programming
Both the Center Stage and Olam Yeladim Afterschool Programs provide "School's Out!" Programming for students on most school holidays, vacation weeks (including Winter Break & Spring Break), and professional development days. We offer quality child care during our all-day programming and week-long camps, with fun activities like bowling, ice skating, and laser tag, as well as field trips to cool destinations like museums, arcades, and parks.
The Center Stage Afterschool Program (Berkeley Site) offers full-day child care for Berkeley, Albany, and West Contra Costa Unified School District students, from 8:00am - 6:00pm. See the schedule or registration form!
The Olam Yeladim Afterschool Program (Oakland Site) offers full-day child care, called a Yom Nifla [Special Day], for Oakland Unified School District students, from 9:00am - 4:00pm, with early care and extended care available. See the schedule or registration form!
